About Us

It started with a birthday trip. It turned into a whole new life.

Back in late 2017, we booked a three-month adventure through Europe to celebrate Sal’s 40th.

It was supposed to be a big trip for a big birthday. Then, somewhere along the way, something shifted.

Picture Wayne, 55 at the time, sitting at a bar in Frankfurt with a cocktail in hand when it suddenly hit him: What are we doing?

We’d spent decades working long hours, collapsing into exhausted weekends and buying things we didn’t really need. We’d built a good life, but somewhere along the way we’d become so busy living it that we’d stopped asking whether it was still the life we wanted.

That conversation changed everything; when we returned to Australia, we didn’t just unpack our bags. We unpacked our entire lives.

We sold almost everything we owned, donated the rest, left five suitcases at Sal’s mum’s place (thanks, Mum!) and said goodbye to the life we’d spent decades building.

Three weeks later, we walked out the door with two suitcases, no jobs and absolutely no idea what came next.

And that was the beginning of Travel Dine Stay.

Almost a Decade Later… We’re still going.

We’ve travelled through 95 countries, lived nomadically around the world, built a business we love and crossed paths with some truly extraordinary humans along the way.

We’ve slept everywhere from tiny guesthouses to beautiful hotels, eaten at street stalls and Michelin-starred restaurants, travelled by train, plane, ship, horse and the occasional helicopter, and learned that some of the best experiences happen when absolutely nothing goes according to plan.

Travel Dine Stay became our way of sharing it all. The places worth travelling to. The restaurants worth finding. The hotels worth checking into. And the experiences that stay with you long after you’ve come home.

We’re not interested in simply ticking countries off a list. We want to experience them.

To eat where the locals eat. Find the hidden terrace. Take the train instead of the obvious flight. Order the dish we can’t pronounce. Meet the people behind the places. Stay a little longer when somewhere captures us.

Because somewhere along this journey, we realised something:

Time is the greatest luxury we have. We stopped waiting for retirement to start living the life we wanted. And we’ve never looked back.

Social Impact

Travel has given us more than we ever imagined. So we believe it should give something back, too.

When you spend years travelling the world, you don’t just collect passport stamps. You collect stories, friendships and an enormous appreciation for the communities that welcome you in.

We’ve experienced extraordinary generosity in places all over the world, often from people who had very little to give.

And eventually we started asking ourselves:

How can we leave the places we visit a little better than we found them?

That’s where B1G1 comes in.

Through our partnership with B1G1, what we do through Travel Dine Stay helps create real impacts around the world.

Clean water. Education. Meals. Healthcare. Trees planted. Opportunities created. Small acts that, together, can become something much bigger.

For us, giving back isn’t about grand gestures or a number on a website. It’s about making it part of how we live, travel, and work.

And when you read our stories and subscribe to Travel Dine Stay, you become part of that story too.

Our Goal: 2 Million Impacts

Yep. Two million.

Two million moments where someone, somewhere, gets a little more support,

opportunity, or hope.

It’s an ambitious number.

Back in 2017, we thought three months travelling around Europe was a pretty big adventure too.

Look where that got us. Our impact so far. And we’re only getting started.
