Sonniges, gemütliches, erholsames Apartment - Three Nights Airbnb - Gösselsdorf Great quiet location to explore the lakes area. A beautifully renovated apartment that is back from the road, that is fully equipped and a bonus bottle of Austrian Riesling was a wonderful surprise. The home is very well decorated with beautiful finishing touches, very homely and cosy. The kitchen is well equipped, including all the basics you need to cook your meals. Astrid is an absolute pleasure to communicate with and also very responsive, you were never kept waiting. Make sure you visit the little town only five minutes away. We dined at Wallerwirt and were warmly welcomed by the owners. We enjoyed the delicious local cuisine. Velden is a must-see location, approx 35 mins by car, full of great vibes and fabulous restaurants; we enjoyed a long lazy lunch at Seespitz Restaurant & Living . Klopeinsee (Austrian Lake) is only a 5-minute drive, and another great restaurant called Seerose has a sensational view. We also drove to the other end of the lake, full of eating and drinking spots. I recommend you have a car to enjoy all the Austrian delights surrounding the area. Airbnb - Gösselsdorf
- Seespitz Restaurant & Living - Worthersee
Seespitz - Restaurant & Living Fine bistro cuisine by Thomas Gruber at the Seespitz Lounge directly on the lake terraces of Lake Wörthersee. Seespitz Restaurant & Living - Worthersee We loved the variety of raw and grilled specialties, freshly caught fish from the hotel's fish farm, and extraordinary Carinthian creations with artful desserts. Seespitz Restaurant & Living - Worthersee A breathtaking view of the mountains and the unique Wörthersee. It has an extensive wine list and an outdoor area where you can sit back and enjoy the views while sipping a nice cocktail.
- Romantik Hotel - Zell am See
Romantik Hotel - One Night Romantik Hotel - Zell am See The good point is this hotel is very central. Use this as a base and dine and drink at the Grand Hotel or Hotel Seehof . Let's say the Romantik Hotel website is a little creative in the photos of the rooms and facilities.
- Lagana Restaurant Bar - Villach
Lagana Restaurant Bar Lagana Restaurant Bar - Villach This fine-dining restaurant is part of the Holiday Inn, but please don't let that put you off. We found the food, wine, and service exceptional. Excuse the colour in the photos, and the red awning tinted all the photographs. It is one of the few locations that gives you a view of the Austrian Alps and the river. You could easily sit here, enjoying the views with a nice glass of wine. Lagana Restaurant Bar - Villach
- Natur & Spa Hotel Lärchenhof - Seefeld
Natur & Spa Hotel Lärchenhof - One Night Natur & Spa Hotel Lärchenhof - Seefeld A great hotel that has been refurbished, with beautiful rooms and a stunning aspect, we would suggest you visit some of the fine restaurants in the town of Seefeld. Check-in is very smooth, and it's always nice to be treated to a glass of sparkling wine. Natur & Spa Hotel Lärchenhof - Seefeld The facilities are excellent and a great hotel to explore the region. This is more of a full-board-style hotel, so it felt slightly like being on a cruise ship (which we love) without the fine dining. The wine list is limited; however, Sally found a nice Italian Chianti.
- Restaurant Stefan - Telfs
Restaurant Stefan I love it when we stumble across a new restaurant (actually, the truth is a friend gave us directions to an Italian restaurant - just in the wrong country, Germany). Restaurant Stefan - Telfs This Italian restaurant overlooking the Austrian Alps is perfect for an afternoon lunch. The restaurant has been in the same family for just 41 years, and the passion for authentic homestyle cooking is shown. I'll admit this is the first meal where I've eaten every brussel sprout off my plate! Quite an excellent wine list; we scored a fabulous French Premier Cru Chablis at a very affordable price. - Hallstatt - Austria
Hallstatt This small town is in the district of Gmunden, in the Austrian state of Upper Austria. Situated between the southwestern shore of Hallstätter See and the steep slopes of the Dachstein massif, the town lies in Salzkammergut region, on the national road linking Salzburg and Graz. Hallstatt - Austria Hallstatt is known for its salt production, dating back to prehistoric times. Hallstatt is at the core of the "Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut Cultural Landscape" declared as one of the World Heritage Sites in Austria by UNESCO in 1997. It is an area of over-tourism. Hallstatt - Austria To understand the actual impact and image, most Austrians have not visited due to the massive volume of day-trippers. My advice would be to stay at Seehotel Grüner Baum . Enjoy the view from their restaurant on the lake, then visit the town after 7 pm or before 10 am. Then, you'll get to experience Hallstatt in all its glorious beauty. Hallstatt - Austria
- Hotel-Restaurant Zur Post - Melk
Hotel-Restaurant Zur Post Hotel-Restaurant Zur Post - Melk What a nice restaurant with a lovely courtyard and a great lunch menu. The extensive wine list perfectly complements the food, and we enjoyed a great local Austrian Riesling. Head to the courtyard if you want to avoid the crowds.
- Josef's Restaurant - Kundl
Josef's Restaurant Wandering through the charming streets of Kundl, we stumbled upon a culinary gem that promised an evening of delightful surprises: Josef's Restaurant. The vibrant buzz of conversation and laughter spilling into the quiet Tuesday evening was the first indication that we were in for a treat. Josef's Restaurant - Kundl From the first bite, it was clear that Josef's is not your average Italian restaurant. The carefully curated menu offers a blend of traditional flavours and innovative creations. With their unique entree and main dish selections, I ventured into new culinary territory, each plate revealing flavours I had never encountered in Italian cuisine. The pleasure of discovering these new dishes added an extra layer of excitement to our dining experience. What truly sets Josef's apart is its commitment to authentic, high-quality ingredients that allow each dish to shine. It's rare to find a place that surprises an avid Italian cuisine lover with new flavours, but Josef's did just that. The freshness of the produce and the skilful blend of spices and herbs in each dish speak volumes about its dedication to culinary excellence. While we found the wine selection modest, it became apparent that the Austrian beers were the faithful companions to Josef's exquisite fare. The selection of beers provided a refreshing contrast to the rich flavours of the food, rounding out the dining experience beautifully.
- Airbnb - Laas
Neu:Wohnung im Kärntner Bauernhaus in Panoramalage - Three nights Beyond expectations, it is an extraordinary getaway. Airbnb - Laas So many Airbnb places look great in the listing, but don't always meet your expectations. This Airbnb defines description as just perfect. The farmhouse is stunning, and nothing prepares you for the views, location, and facilities (e.g., Miele appliances throughout the apartment). Airbnb - Laas We would recommend spending at least five days enjoying the location. The sunny apartment and the covered, spacious patio offer an unobstructed view. Michael is a wonderful host and very easy to communicate with. He always checked in to ensure you were happy and was a pleasure to deal with. Airbnb - Laas This historic Carinthian farmhouse, built in 1850 in a secluded location, has been lovingly and carefully renovated. It is very spacious, spotlessly clean, and peaceful. Walking along the stream to the small local village is beautiful; visit the water wheel from 1880. The location is perfect, and you have the most quaint village within a few minutes' drive. We dined at Josef's Restaurant , which serves a great Italian meal. You can push your limits, try wild boar and deer, and be pleasantly surprised. We preferred staying in this unique Airbnb and wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy this breathtaking place. Airbnb - Laas
