- Josef's Restaurant - Kundl
Josef's Restaurant Wandering through the charming streets of Kundl, we stumbled upon a culinary gem that promised an evening of delightful surprises: Josef's Restaurant. The vibrant buzz of conversation and laughter spilling into the quiet Tuesday evening was the first indication that we were in for a treat. Josef's Restaurant - Kundl From the first bite, it was clear that Josef's is not your average Italian restaurant. The carefully curated menu offers a blend of traditional flavours and innovative creations. With their unique entree and main dish selections, I ventured into new culinary territory, each plate revealing flavours I had never encountered in Italian cuisine. The pleasure of discovering these new dishes added an extra layer of excitement to our dining experience. What truly sets Josef's apart is its commitment to authentic, high-quality ingredients that allow each dish to shine. It's rare to find a place that surprises an avid Italian cuisine lover with new flavours, but Josef's did just that. The freshness of the produce and the skilful blend of spices and herbs in each dish speak volumes about its dedication to culinary excellence. While we found the wine selection modest, it became apparent that the Austrian beers were the faithful companions to Josef's exquisite fare. The selection of beers provided a refreshing contrast to the rich flavours of the food, rounding out the dining experience beautifully.
- Airbnb - Laas
Neu:Wohnung im Kärntner Bauernhaus in Panoramalage - Three nights Beyond expectations, it is an extraordinary getaway. Airbnb - Laas So many Airbnb places look great in the listing, but don't always meet your expectations. This Airbnb defines description as just perfect. The farmhouse is stunning, and nothing prepares you for the views, location, and facilities (e.g., Miele appliances throughout the apartment). Airbnb - Laas We would recommend spending at least five days enjoying the location. The sunny apartment and the covered, spacious patio offer an unobstructed view. Michael is a wonderful host and very easy to communicate with. He always checked in to ensure you were happy and was a pleasure to deal with. Airbnb - Laas This historic Carinthian farmhouse, built in 1850 in a secluded location, has been lovingly and carefully renovated. It is very spacious, spotlessly clean, and peaceful. Walking along the stream to the small local village is beautiful; visit the water wheel from 1880. The location is perfect, and you have the most quaint village within a few minutes' drive. We dined at Josef's Restaurant , which serves a great Italian meal. You can push your limits, try wild boar and deer, and be pleasantly surprised. We preferred staying in this unique Airbnb and wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy this breathtaking place. Airbnb - Laas
- Seehotel Grüner Baum - Hallstatt
Seehotel Grüner Baum - One Night The only way to truly experience Hallstatt is to stay overnight at this beautiful hotel. Seehotel Grüner Baum - Hallstatt Most rooms overlook the lake, and I suggest you do what we did. We arrived mid-afternoon, avoided the crowds and had a late lunch or early dinner on the lake. Then we explored Hallstatt in the evening after 7 pm when all the crowds had gone. You will be blessed with amazing views, the quiet serenity of the lake and excellent service. Be warned, Hallstatt is currently running at overcapacity, so staying inside the hotel until after the day-trippers have left will give you a once-in-a-lifetime memory. Tutto Bene - Five Visits Wow, this fantastic small restaurant, known for its unique selling points, is always busy. We were fortunate to experience this gem during the quiet season. Tutto Bene - Rovinj The husband-and-wife team, the heart and soul of this lovely restaurant overlooking a small square in Rovinj, are not just owners but also beautiful people full of positive energy. Their passion for great food, company, and life is infectious; you can't get enough. You are welcomed with a glass of Prosecco, a lovely surprise, and homemade grappa, the finishing touch. Tutto Bene - Rovinj The food is divine. So much love goes into the meal preparation and all-natural ingredients. I'm a massive fan of the steaks, cooked to perfection. One of the best crème brûlées is available if you can fit dessert. We're so happy to have eaten at this destination restaurant.
- L'Argenteria - Bari
Nestled amidst the vibrant heart of Bari lies a hidden Italian treasure. L'Argenteria, our favourite restaurant in Bari! From the moment we stepped foot in this heavenly restaurant, we knew we were in for an unforgettable experience. The ambience oozes warmth and hospitality, with stunning décor that creates a cosy and inviting atmosphere. And let's talk about the team! They're not just attentive, fun, and warm; they're delightful! You can easily create a positive rapport with them, like meeting long-lost friends for an elaborate catch-up session. And don't even get me started on the cocktails! The menu is extensive, the quality is outstanding, and the drinks are so delicious you'll easily lose an afternoon perusing and sampling the list! chuckles But it's not just the drinks that'll leave you reeling with pleasure; the food at L'Argenteria is a burst of flavour in your mouth! Everything we ordered was delicious, from the cheese plates to the local plates of pasta. You can taste the love and passion in every bite, and trust me when I say your taste buds will thank you for it! Located on a charming pedestrian street, L'Argenteria's peaceful surroundings let you soak up the ambience of Bari's beautiful architecture while watching locals go about their day. It's like taking a peaceful break from the busy, intense shopping street and slipping into a world of authenticity, warmth, and deliciousness. Fortunately, we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant during our last meal in Bari. And I have to say, it's the best choice we ever made, especially after being disappointed with our previous attempts. A very special thank you to the team at L'Argenteria for the hospitality, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

From the bustling harbour of Sydney to the tranquil lagoons of the Isle of Pines, each day brought a new chapter of discovery that captured the imagination and rejuvenated our souls. Celebrity Solstice South Pacific Fiji Cruise Embarkation Day Sydney What an exciting day! We started our South Pacific adventure by boarding the ship in beautiful Sydney. After the buzz of unpacking and exploring the ship, the mood was electric as we watched the iconic Sydney Harbour fade into the distance during the sail-away party. The sun was setting, and the champagne was flowing; it felt like a dream. We dined with Sally's mum and dad that first night and soaked up some live music. Everything about the evening set the tone for an unforgettable trip. SEA DAY A day of lazing in our suite, enjoying the sunshine. Christmas Day Christmas at sea was magical. I woke up to the ship decked out in festive lights and decorations, with the smell of holiday food drifting through the air. Santa even made a special appearance. We spent part of the day relaxing by the pool, then indulged in a festive feast at dinner. Watching Christmas movies while sailing in the middle of the ocean was surreal. Isle of Pines, New Caledonia Just wow. There’s a reason the Isle of Pines is called the "Jewel of the Pacific." This place was the definition of paradise; the lagoons were turquoise, the beaches pristine, and those towering pine trees added a unique beauty to the landscape. I went swimming in the natural pool at Oro Bay, like dipping into a slice of heaven. Kanumera Bay was perfect for snorkelling, and the coral was breathtaking. Nouméa, New Caledonia We arrived in Nouméa, the "Paris of the Pacific." I was instantly enchanted by its French influence mixed with tropical vibes. I joined an excursion to the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, which is perfect for immersing myself in New Caledonia’s culture and history. Afterwards, I couldn’t resist tasting local pastries and exploring the markets; there’s nothing like French-inspired treats in paradise! Back on the ship that evening, the entertainment had an excellent South Pacific theme, which made the day feel extra special. Mystery Island, Vanuatu A tiny, uninhabited island off the coast of Vanuatu’s Aneityum Island, Mystery Island is a remote paradise of white sand beaches, swaying palms and aquamarine waters. Since the surrounding sea is a protected marine sanctuary, snorkelers will be enchanted by views of colourful marine life and pristine coral reefs. Aneityum residents will likely set up market stalls on Mystery Island when you visit so that you can browse local goods like coconut oil, coffee and handmade jewellery. Whether you stroll the gorgeous shoreline, enjoy under-the-sea adventures or explore nearby Aneityum, you’ll treasure your time in this secret oasis. Lautoka, Fiji Lautoka is known as the "Sugar City." It was easy to see why with the lush sugar cane fields everywhere. I went on a tour to learn about the sugar plantations, but the best part of the day was visiting the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, truly one of Fiji’s hidden gems. Walking among orchids and tropical plants felt so serene. We had a traditional Fijian meal for lunch, which was flavorful and fresh; it’s not every day you eat under palm trees with a view of the ocean. SUVA, Fiji Suva had a different vibe from Lautoka: busy, vibrant, and full of life. I spent the morning at the Fiji Museum, which gave me a deeper understanding of the island’s history. Later, we explored markets packed with handmade crafts and fresh produce. I loved chatting with vendors and picking up souvenirs to take home. A highlight was watching a Fijian dance performance, which was so full of energy and joy that I couldn’t help but clap along. Fiji’s spirit stayed with me long after we sailed away. Entertainment

- A Slow-Travelling Digital Nomad
The Ageist recently featured me in an interview discussing my journey as a seasoned digital nomad since 2017. I'm excited to share some insights from the interview, exploring the reasons and methods behind our lifestyle. Happy reading! "After feeling stuck, working too much, and leading a life of consumption, Wayne and his wife, Sally, returned to their then-home in Australia, sold their trinkets, and set out to travel more, consume less, and make more memories. They had no jobs, two suitcases, and no plans—just sheer adventure and a will to see it all. At an age when society would expect them to consider retirement, they've since visited 80 countries and created a nomadic lifestyle for themselves—all while building a successful business".
