- Gallo Nero - A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Belgrade
It's often said, "better late than never," and this review for Gallo Nero restaurant in Belgrade should have been published just after they opened in early March 2022. We have since become loyal lovers and fans of Gallo Nero over the past few years, and each and every visit, we are continually delighted and surprised by the exceptional tasting dishes and the warmest, friendliest and kindest team; customers are family at Gallo, like most places in Belgrade. Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in Belgrade, the pasta is always cooked Al dente, made with the purest and freshest ingredients, making the dishes delicious whilst using only the bare minimum ingredients required, yet full of flavour. The pizzas are authentic, and the tomato base is enough to keep you returning; it is super delicious with an excellent selection of premium olive oils and balsamic vinegars from Italy. The menu has something for everyone and will satisfy your daily cravings; the meats are also mouthwatering! And desserts are the bomb, be sure to leave just enough room as you can’t miss out!! The journey does not end with the food; a handpicked wine list beckons you to traverse the vineyards of Italy, promising new discoveries and favourites to revisit with each glass. This beverage selection perfectly complements the dishes, encapsulating the essence of an Italian getaway. If you enjoy an apertif or digestive, you will be impressed too! Gallo Nero - Wine The interior and decor are luxurious, designed for comfort and perfect for those long, lazy lunches we have become accustomed to. The beautiful team will take care of you and respect your space and dining style, so you are never pressured should you love those long, lazy lunches! Gallo Nero has always been a great place to celebrate special occasions, and we have enjoyed many birthdays and farewells. Sal's Birthday - Jan 2024 In extending our deepest gratitude to Dušan and the entire team at Gallo Nero, we celebrate the slice of Italy they've brought to Belgrade. Gallo Nero has not only secured its place as our favourite Italian kitchen but also as a sanctuary where every visit feels like coming home. Thank you for the continuous journey of culinary excellence and for making us feel part of the Gallo Nero family with each visit. Snowing in Belgrade - April 2025
- La Pirogue - Tivat
La Pirogue - Five Visits Nestled within La Roche Hotel, La Pirogue isn't merely a dining destination but a journey into culinary splendour that my partner and I revisited five times. Ideally located, it promises an enchanting view of the Bay of Kotor, creating a setting where luxury and nature merge. Each visit unveiled dishes with a symphony of flavours, from succulent meats to vibrant salads, all complemented by an expansive wine list. The no-limits, à la carte breakfasts were a daily delight, offering many choices to start our mornings on a high note. The service at La Pirogue was exemplary—personal, friendly, and attentive. It enriched our dining experience with local tales and impeccable attention to detail. La Pirogue is a must-visit spot in Tivat for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. Between its breathtaking setting, delicious culinary offerings, and unmatched service, it captivates both the heart and palate. Don’t miss the opportunity to create lasting memories here—it’s more than a meal; it’s a celebration of fine dining at its best.

Magic Sea View (lux apartment) - Four Nights This is an excellent central location, perfect for Kotor. It is great for short stays, but it has extensive views and is spotlessly clean. Everything is within walking distance, including shops, restaurants, and the old town. It gets the morning and afternoon sun and has fantastic sunsets. The apartment is beautifully designed, very comfortable and has everything you need, including a fully equipped kitchen. Andrea and Ivan (the hosts) are fantastic and helpful; they were kind enough to call us taxis when we needed transport. We were pleasantly surprised with a welcome gift, a delicious lemon cake, and a wine bottle. Thank you for making our stay extra special. I recommend your stay in Kotor; you won't be disappointed.

Airbnb - Kavac - Five Nights We enjoyed our stay in Kavac/Tivat and returned to spend New Year's Eve with the Airbnb host Carine. Magical views and stunning apartment. You know you made the right choice as soon as you walk in. The sensational Bay of Kotor views overwhelm you, and the sunsets do not disappoint. The immaculate apartment is designed for comfort and relaxation. It is up on the hill and a short drive into Tivat, which is very convenient. It's best to arrive prepared with your groceries to ensure you can enjoy the apartment. There is a small market down the hill if you need any essentials. We cooked daily, and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need. It is spacious, and the bathrooms are great, with excellent water pressure and a bathtub. Carine is a pleasure to work with and makes your stay even better. If you need anything, she will be sure to help. I highly recommend this apartment for your stay. You will leave feeling refreshed and wishing you could stay longer.

- Kotor Old Town
Kotor - Four Nights Kotor is an old town on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, in a bay near the limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovćen. Its charm is the winding streets and squares in the medieval old town, which also has several Romanesque churches, including Kotor Cathedral. The surrounding views of the fjords and fortress are beautiful. It's probably not worth staying overnight (being located in the Gulf of Kotor there are only about 5 hours of sunshine a day), and to be honest, the shops are all selling fake designer fashion, bags, and shoes. This wasn't very pleasant and lowered our experience of the old town. We visited just after tourist season, and most of the hotels and restaurants were closed due to the pandemic. After travelling Croatia and being spoilt by Rovinj , the most magical old town, pristinely clean and maintained, full of life, a strong community, fantastic food and views of the Adriatic Sea, you would be better to enjoy the other delights of Montenegro. Just feels a bit soulless; unfortunately, the current times have impacted Kotor Old town dramatically.
- Bay of Kotor - Kotor
Bay of Kotor This morning, we woke up to clear blue skies, which was a positive start to our journey to Tivat , a just under three-hour drive. After breakfast at Hotel SOA , we packed up and checked out as the snow started to fall and pray the roads were open. We were in luck as the roads had just been cleared making the journey much more manageable, it got quite challenging initially, but after 1.5 hours we were in the clear and could relax. It was incredible to make our way back to sea level from 1500m and to experience the dramatic change in scenery and, of course, climate. We entered the Bay of Kotor and were again mesmerised by the beautiful destination. The Bay of Kotor is a winding bay in the Adriatic Sea in southwestern Montenegro. Most of the country's landmass is concentrated around this bay. You drive around Our Lady of the Rocks. It is an artificial island created by a bulwark of rocks and sinking old and seized ships loaded with rocks. Stop at Vidikovac Sopot to see the waterfall that helps fill the bay. We safely made it and are now enjoying a glass of vino. We look forward to a week here before heading to Albania , our next destination.
- THE SPOT - Lustica Bay
THE SPOT - One Visit Have you ever sat in a restaurant and felt you would have a great experience? That was our experience at The Spot. That was our experience at The Spot, part of The Chedi Hotel in Lustica Bay. This restaurant oozes style, and we were lucky to experience its famous Sunday sessions, which are full of residents and feature live music, BBQ, and drinks. Our waitress, Dajana, was super helpful. Before we even ordered our first (of many) cocktails, Dajana had organised a fantastic room at the hotel . We listened to live music for the rest of the afternoon, enjoyed outstanding quality fresh food, and sipped some fine wines. Nothing is better than finishing the day with a few expresso martinis and then retiring to your room without worrying about driving. It was a magical day, and thanks to the Chedi Hotel Team.
