  • Bistro du Vin - Belgrade

Bistro du Vin - One visit We love a good wine bar, and Bistro du Vin in Belgrade definitely spoiled us. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and we really enjoyed chatting with Bojana and absolutely loved her personality and jokes. They are true to their name and have an extraordinary collection of fine wines worldwide. A fantastic Gin selection is also available. We selected a wonderful French Riesling. The food also didn't disappoint, and we were very impressed. We started with a beef carpaccio, which is one of my faves, and it was perfection. Followed by risotto, Belgrade is a fan of risottos. A majority of restaurants have available three or four on their menu. This one was delicious. Our lovely Bojana surprised us with a delicious dessert, cream puffs. It was light and fluffy and, as you can imagine, divine! A wonderful design and a great place to chill and dine, indoor and outdoor dining available. We look forward to making our way back to say hello and enjoy another lovely lunch at Bistro du Vin.

  • Kultura Bar - Belgrade

Kultura Bar - One visit Kultura Bar is a unique and cosy cocktail bar tucked away in a quiet street in Belgrade. Felt like we were back in Melbourne, Australia. The team were very welcoming and friendly. The cocktails were excellent, and the staff had exceptional knowledge and made sure your cocktail was made just for you. A fantastic selection of liquors was available, and the design was quirky and arty. A cosy indoor space or you could enjoy your drinks outdoors. We enjoyed our visit and were impressed, definitely recommend a visit to Kultura Bar to sample some fabulous creations.

  • BeKind Airbnb - Belgrade

BeKind Airbnb - Seven nights Definitely a home away from home in Belgrade, Serbia. BeKind Airbnb is a beautiful apartment, very spacious and fully equipped. Located in a new apartment building in the most wonderful neighbourhood Slavija, with bars and restaurants on your doorstep, and the city centar only ten minutes taxi ride. We stayed seven nights and really enjoyed exploring the neighbourhood, and local eateries. We recommend Nomad Bistro&Bar, just around the corner. You have all your essential shops moments walk, and with the apartment being so well equipped it was perfect for cooking and relaxing at home also. Very clean, with new modern furniture and a well sized balcony overlooking the Saint Sava church, it was perfect for your morning coffee and afternoon vino, listening to the chimes of the bells. You are also blessed with sunrises and sunsets from the balcony overlooking the magnificent church. Goran was a very attentive and pleasant host, he was always there when you needed him and was very responsive. Definitely recommend 'BeKind' apartment for a very comfortable stay in the best location.

  • PenthouseLux Airbnb - Belgrade

PenthouseLux - Two nights You can't win them all. This was one that definitely didn't align with the nightly value ($166AUD), reviews and description of the property and facilities. We had much higher hopes for the location, but after our taxi driver struggled to find it after 20 minutes of driving around the building blocks, we soon realised it wasn't our desired location and was not in the heart of New Belgrade; it was 20 minutes walk. Upon arrival into the apartment, we know not to judge an apartment by the facade, but this building was in distress, and the rooftop oasis we were expecting didn't quite meet our expectations. We instantly decided only to stay two nights (from four) and quickly popped in to collect groceries to keep us locked away for a few days. We were honestly uncomfortable with the neighbourhood; it was very remote and a 20-minute taxi ride from the Centar of Belgrade. The apartment is as the pictures published, although much more tired and worn. The white leather couch now is a soft brown complemented by cracked leather, and cushions were also soiled and needed to be replaced. The cleanliness was the only surface clean, and the kitchen cupboards were definitely in need of a spring clean and declutter; they were full of bits and pieces. We quickly started on the mission to clean out the cupboards and wash all the dishes. The bar fridge/freezer was also in need of a defrost, as it was full of ice and no longer was freezing goods. The apartment listing confirmed a microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and washing machine, of all which were missing. The washing machine was in the bathroom but was not yet connected, nor had the pipes available to connect, so unworkable. The terrace rooftop was beautiful, and we were looking forward to sunbaking for a few days, but that soon became difficult as the sunbeds were damaged and broken. The views were not as described. The river views were snippets peaking through the trees from a distance. Unfortunately, this Airbnb was one of the first to let us down. We were pleased to have checked out early and head back to old Belgrade, the neighbourhoods we have become to know well and love.

  • Vinoteka Neimar Bar & Shop - Belgrade

Vinoteka Neimar Bar & Shop - One visit A true locals wine bar. Perfect corner location in the upscale neighbourhood of Neimar, just on the fringes of Belgrade city. Great selection of wines and spirits to purchase by the bottle, the only slight issue was limited choices by the glass when enjoying a vino in the bar. The staff were friendly and warm, full of positive energy, a joy to be around. Definitely a locals hotspot, ideal after a busy day at work or exploring, to wind and wine down.

  • The view rooftop - Belgrade

The view rooftop - One visit A hidden rooftop oasis in Hotel Crystal, with magical views of the Church of Saint Sava and Belgrade. Located in the gorgeous neighbourhood Neimar. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the wonderful team and seated for an uninterrupted view of the church. The fantastic wine list included our favourite Tikves Bela Voda from our Macedonian travels. We were already impressed. The food was also exceptional, great range of choices, and will require more visits to enjoy the menu on offer. We started with a delicious Risotto, followed by Wayne's favourite Wiener Schnitzel, and after becoming experts in Vienna, this one definitely held its ground. Following lunch, we were kindly offered dessert from our lovely waiter, which was incredibly generous, and we opted for Apple Pie and something new, the dumplings, which were absolutely divine!! The view rooftop is definitely a place not to be missed during your visit to Belgrade. You won't be disappointed and will have an exceptional dining experience spoilt with precious views.

  • Tesla Hotel - Belgrade

Tesla Hotel - Five nights Tesla Hotel was the perfect boutique hotel to spend Wayne's birthday, located in the magical neighbourhood Neimar of Belgrade. The staff were so lovely and made you feel so welcome from the moment you arrived, and this continued throughout our stay. We stayed in the Family Suite with a balcony, a very spacious and modern suite with views of the Church of Saint Sava. Photo credit: Hotel Tesla The location is perfect. You are on the doorstep of everything and feel you are part of the community. You are spoiled with many wonderful eateries and bars. You can stroll into the centre, or you can opt to take a ten-minute taxi ride. We loved the staff being intuitive and surprising Wayne with a local gift of Rakija and a personalised note to wish him a happy birthday. It is the perfect location for all your essential needs. There is a dry cleaner on the corner, and a stunning hair salon too, along with all your other needs. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Telsa and definitely recommended for your stay in Belgrade to truly experience the local life and access to all the local attractions.

  • Josephine - Belgrade

Josephine - Two visits Our first lunch in Belgrade, Serbia, was at this wonderful restaurant and cocktail bar called Josephine. Opulent and modern design inspired by the fabulous 1920s Art Deco style and Première icône Noire Josephine Baker, a restaurant and cocktail bar. You first enter the cocktail bar to be greeted by the lovely hostess, which transports you instantly back to the 1920s, absolutely stunning. Followed by the dining room and amazing outdoor dining in the beautifully designed garden under the trees. We were then seated in the dining room, very cosy and full of natural light. Our friendly waiter Nikola was an absolute delight, and we felt very spoilt by the exceptional service levels. The wine list is exemplary, full of local and wines worldwide, including a great selection of champagne, which we couldn't pass up to celebrate our arrival in Belgrade, followed by an Austrian Riesling. The food set the bar high for our first dining experience in Belgrade. It was mouthwatering, especially the roast chicken, so tender and moist, served with roast vegetables. We couldn't leave without sampling the cocktails, as we did hear they have one of the best mixologists in the city, and again we were very impressed. Wayne's birthday lunch was also celebrated at Josephine, and the magical dining experience continued. We explored more of the menu, both wine and food and absolutely loved our journey. Service from our friendly Nikola was exceptional, and he took us on a food journey to surprise and delight. The watermelon carpaccio definitely played with our thoughts as we guessed the type of meat being served. Our lunch in the garden ended with another surprise, a birthday dessert for Wayne (and myself). This was a perfect ending to yet another amazing dining experience at Josephine. We will definitely be back to enjoy another lazy lunch at Josephines, and we absolutely love the positive vibe, beautiful setting, friendly service and food, along with being a local hotspot.

  • Terminal Gastro Bar - Belgrade

Terminal Gastro Bar - One visit Very modern and stylish cafe in a beautiful neighbourhood in Belgrade. We stopped in for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast to enjoy the wonderful views of the Church of Saint Sava, which did not disappoint. The coffee and breakfast were excellent, very fresh. The place was full of locals and had a great vibe. Definitely a great spot, and the staff were all friendly.

  • Meating Brasserie - Belgrade

Meating Brasserie - Two visits A wonderful brasserie in Belgrade, with a great collection of wines just on the fringes of the city, and a great place to enjoy a quality glass. We can imagine this place jumping during the cooler seasons, live music will keep you entertained whilst enjoying a fabulous wine or Rakija. The team are very welcoming and friendly, Overwhelmed by the gift of a 25-year Rakija whilst we were shopping for wines by the bottle, a broad range of international wines, especially European. The decor was beautiful, with a private dining room for a group of 8. Booths in the main bar to just chill out and soak up the atmosphere. Closed for food during the summer, but come autumn they will have excellent dining options available to compliment your wine.
