Samuel's Fortress - One visit
Best view from Samuel's Fortress in Ohrid dates from antique historian Livy from 209 BC. Ohrid is the largest city on Lake Ohrid and the eighth-largest city in Macedonia.
The 360-degree views of the village, lake and mountains are beautiful and only 10 minutes from the old town; the fortress rises to 100 meters above the lake's level.
The fortress is quite dilapidated. Therefore, it can be unsafe with all the small stairs to climb as some are withering away.
A small fee to enter, 60 Denar each (€1) and 1-hour maximum to explore.
The beautiful fortress can be seen from most city areas as you roam around, always providing a wonderful view, especially with the high Macedonian flag.
Be sure to include the Old Ancient Theatre and Church of Saints Clement and Panteleimon in your walking tour, as they are all 10 minutes from each other, and all have the most wonderful views of Ohrid and are full of rich history.
